Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is an American screen and stage actress, best recognized for her roles in films as a character in Ray Undercover Brother and on the television series The Mentalist. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies from Brown University as well as an MFA in acting from the Tisch School of Arts New York University. Aunjanue Ellis is an American actor and producer who is active in film, theater, and TV. She started acting on stage before appearing in independent, mainstream as well as television shows. The actress gained fame as Miranda Shaw on ABC's Quantico and appeared on BET's epic series The Book of Negroes for which she not only received critical acclaim but also numerous nominations and awards including a Television Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Actress in a Movie. In 1995, she was the first to appear in the role of Ariel on stage on stage in The Tempest. She's appeared in Broadway with roles in Come and Gone, A Winter's Tale, Drowning Crow and Seeking the Genesis.
