
Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 - - January 19 2008) was an American film, theatre, television, and voice actress. Pleshette began her acting career in the theatre and appeared in films during the latter half of the 1950s. She later appeared in prominent films such as Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), or Spirited Away (192001). In later years, she was a part of several television productions and was frequently a guest actor. She was Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 to 1978, in which she won several Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan), and Eugene Pleshette. She was born in Brooklyn Heights, New York City on the 31st of January 1937. The parents of the couple were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was an artist, dancer and choreographer who performed under her stage name of Geraldine Rivers. Her father was stage director at the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
